Hair Stylists & Nail Techs

Brandon Oaks has an immediate need for Hair Stylists and Nail Technicians. Prefer applicants with 5 – 10 years of experience and desire to work with seniors. Applicants must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.     Salon hours are Tuesday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Monday and Saturday by appointment. Hours can be arranged based on availability of qualified applicants. These positions are independent contractors and not employees of Brandon Oaks.

PT or FT Security

Position:                     Security Officer

Department:              Environmental Services

Responsible To:          Director of Environmental Services

 

Job Summary:            To help ensure the safety of Brandon Oaks for the residents, employees, and guests. Reports to Director of Plant Operations.

 

Performance Requirements:

  • Makes regular rounds both inside and outside to ensure a safe and secure environment.  Records of each round are kept in the security log book. 
  • Ensures physical safety and protection through effective monitoring of lighting, lock and key system, door alarms, monitors personnel identification and access control through surveillance rounds, package, material and property removal control and vehicle control.
  • Prepares written incident reports on any situation that occurs out of the ordinary.  The Nursing Supervisor on duty is to be notified on all incidents.
  • Participates in loss prevention program and may serve on the Safety/Security Committee.
  • Promptly reports all physical plant problems to the maintenance department.  Identifies, reports and whenever possible rectifies all safety hazards.
  • Prepares to respond to emergency situations, including but not limited to:  fire, theft, unauthorized persons, personal injury, certain maintenance emergencies, etc.
  • Responds promptly to emergency calls, including resident falls. Must be able to assist nursing staff in lifting patients from falls.
  • Responsible for traffic/parking control and accident prevention.
  • Required to follow current work schedule and rounds schedule.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training and scheduling all security staff.
  • Security Officers will be professional, polite, and courteous at all times. 
  • Responsible to make periodic distribution of news bulletins or special announcements to the apartments, and deliver packages when residents are not physically able to come to the receptionist desk.
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive and professional relationship with residents, staff, and management.
  • To work in cooperation with the Resident Neighborhood Watch Committee.
  • Performs other duties as required in order to ensure the well-being and satisfaction of the resident family.
  • Ability to adjust to cover schedules/shifts as needed.
  • Be able to understand and confidently train in fire alarm systems, and fire and emergency plan.
  • Will be directly responsible for immediate concerns of other officers as they arise.
  • Hours are 4:00 pm – 12:00 am Monday through Friday/Subject to being “on call.”

 

Qualifications:

·         Compassion and respect in dealing with senior adults.

·         Minimum two years previous experience in either security or law enforcement work preferred.

·         High school graduate.  Special security training preferred.

·         Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check.

·         Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

·         Capable of performing in emergency situations.

·         Knowledge of basic first aid/CPR.

·         Must be able to successfully retrieve (as defined in Pool Protocol) a 150 lb dummy from the pool.

·         Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs for short distances.

·         Good verbal and written communications skills.

·         Valid driver's license.

Part-Time Dining Room Server

Position:                     Dining Room Server IL

Department:              Dining Services IL

Responsible To:          Dining Room Manager IL/ Dining Room Supervisor

 

Job Summary:            Responsible for maintaining an atmosphere of ‘fine dining” in assigned section in Independent Living dining room. Greet residents, take food and beverage orders and serve meal. Completes set-up procedures and complete routine cleaning as assigned. Assist in set-up and service of special functions as scheduled.

 

Performance Requirements:

·         Loyalty and support for management and a commitment to the organization’s mission and goals.

·         Positive attitude of cooperation conducive to teamwork.

·         Maintain professional service environment.

o   Greet residents as they are seated.

o   Responsible for resident satisfaction, attending to resident from time of seating until departure from dining room.

o   Review menu and understand preparation and proper service procedures for menu items.

o   Recognize service issues and address them with supervisor as they arise.

·         Complete daily set-up procedures

·         Do routine cleaning and side-work as assigned.

·         Arrive at work on time, in uniform – clean and pressed.

·         Assist in set-up, service and break-down of special functions as needed.

·         Maintain good public relations with all residents and guests of Brandon Oaks.

Performs other duties as required to ensure well-being and satisfaction of residents or as assigned by Management Personnel.

 

Qualifications:

·         Previous experience or formal training as a server or waiter/waitress preferred.

·         Must possess ability to perform work quickly and accurately.

·         Ability to effectively communicate and receive both written and verbal information in a manner easily understood by all dining room personnel.

·         Ability to obtain and apply knowledge of proper food service procedures.

·         Knowledge and ability to implement proper sanitation and cleaning methods in accordance with VDH and Brandon Oaks policy.

·         Ability to maintain professional courtesy in stressful situations.

Supervision:

Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a fast paced environment that is adequately lighted and ventilated.

Physical Demands:

Employee must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time and carry loads of up to 10 pounds or more.

Hours Include: Must be available: Monday-Sunday 11a-2p     4p-7p
